I reopened my newsletter (starting September)

Hello guys,

Some years later, I finally decided to reopen my newsletter :)

↓

This time it comes with an actual purpose. Before, it was more of a "sounds like a good idea!" without any real direction. Now the direction is clear: occasional letters between videos - sent only when I have something worth saying. No fixed schedule, which sounds vague, but it's the opposite: it means I'll only land in your inbox when there's a reason to.

Here's the kind of thing I'll share:

  • something interesting I came across
  • what I'm quietly working on
  • a research note that didn't make it into a video

You're getting this because you're already on my list - so you're automatically subscribed, nothing to do. The letters will start in September, so until then: enjoy your vacations 🌻

And this is a real email - if you want to say hi, reply and I'll actually read it. If it's not your thing, no hard feelings; there's an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Hope you're all doing well. Talk in September,
Evie

The stuff that doesn't fit in a video - interesting finds, project updates, leftover research notes I couldn't stop thinking about, and the occasional catch-up. A quieter, more personal corner than the channel :)

EvieRan October 27th Hello guys, let's talk about your phone and slot machines! ↓ This is what usually happens, right? You open the app for “just a second” and mostly you get .. nothing - a recycled meme, an ad, someone’s lunch, a new protest, a new disaster. But every so often you get a message you were waiting for, a video that makes you laugh out loud, or a comment that actually matters. You just never know what's coming next. And that's the whole trick actually. In the 1950s, Ferster and...

EvieRan October 22nd Hello guys, let me share with you a thought from Alan Watts about goals and all :) ↓ There's this idea from Alan Watts that I keep coming back to whenever I feel too obsessed with a goal: the more you strive for happiness, the worse you feel in the process - and the more you accept your unhappiness, the better you feel about your situation. Let me make it a bit more concrete. Say you live alone. You focus on how much happier you'd be living with someone, if you had a...

EvieRan October 12th Hello guys,I've read The 12 Week Year and most of it wasn't new. But 3 ideas in it are worth stealing, especially if you have ADHD - and one of them is doing something the authors never name. Here's the setup and at the end, I have a quick update on how it is going ↓ 1. Set a 12-week goal, not a yearly one A reward loses its pull the further away it sits. Everyone works this way; but in ADHD the drop-off is much steeper. A goal 12 months out has almost no motivational...
